Men of Courage

I DO solemnly resolve before God to take full responsibility for myself, my wife, and my children,
I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach them the Word of God as the spiritual leader of my house,
I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down my life for her as Jesus Christ did for me,
I WILL bless my children and teach them to love God with all of their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength.
I WILL train them to honor authority and live responsibly,
I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy,
I WILL pray for others and treat them with kindness, respect, and compassion,
I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family,
I WILL forgive those who have wronged me and reconcile with those who I have wronged,
I WILL learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God,
I WILL seek to honor God, be faithful to His church, obey His Word, and do His will,
I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill his resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.

  1. Very nice 12 sentiments and biblically based I believe, however should the last I WILL 'his resolution' read 'this resolution', just wondering brother.
Also re 'confront evil,' I feel that confront meaning 'taking the bull by the horns?' or 'going through evil not around it?' I'm just wondering whether 'condemn evil' would be an alternative choice of words given that confrontation might not be approapriate in every situation? Particularly if laying down your life for your wife is OK in the sense of defence of wife or family, maybe you can explain the choice of the word confront evil in a scriptual sense please of when it is approapriate and if there are time to disern it may be better to simply 'avoid' evil? Just after your thoughts on these please bro.

  2. these are not my words but the words written by whoever did the "Courageous" movie so i cannot change what they have written.I believe God has a plan for our lives and i think that is what they are getting at with His resolution for our lives. if you would like to better understand these words then i would encourage you to seek out the courageous people and ask them what they meant when they wrote these words :) God bless
